An update from the Big Bretta House 2010-2011

Hey Guys it’s Alana here. I’ve been asked to look back over the first term and tell you guys what we’ve been up to. So here goes...

As you know our team changes every year so back in September we came together as our NEW team. There was... Rachel, Sue, Jen and our 3 newbie’s Jozef, Kayte and Nora.

Our first few weeks together were all about getting to know each other and having lots of fun. There was laughter everywhere but soon we realised the do’s and don’ts...

Don’t sit on Rachel’s seat in the lounge.

Do make sure Jen has peanut butter.

Don’t wake Alana or Kayte up on a Monday morning.

Do keep Jozef entertained at all times.

Don’t ask Nora riddles.

Do let Soo win all the games we play.

Our work life started with us coming out to visit some of you. We went out to St Thomas Moore, Denton, to work with years 8 and 9 for a couple of days. We also caught up with the yr 10’s who had been to visit the year before. It was so much fun thanks guys!! And the day ended amazingly with an LZ7 gig!! So cool!

The house has been full of fantastic young people this term(hope you’re reading)  from, St Bede’s, Mount Carmel, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, All Saints, Notre Dame and Barlow. With loads of brill day groups too! Some highlights from this term are...

Watching teachers getting covered in shaving foam, seeing more fancy dress costumes in 3 days than I ever thought possible. Having a group picture taken with sheep, singing crazy camp fire songs round the bonfire, making up new celebrations songs, and doing human bop it while playing bop it. We also had lots of lovely prayer moments and fantastic Bretta masses. Seeing all of you guys having such a fantastic time and bringing so much laughter into our crazy house has been amazing.

In between all that we had lots of birthday parties and celebrations. Sharing Joy and laughter as a community while singing songs and in true Bretta style we were in fancy dress! (Ok so that was mainly me!)

We’ve also had our BIG Bretta Christmas fair which some of our fab young people from club came to help (thanks guys). A brill and crazy busy day was had by all. Thanks everyone for your support!!

And loads loads more...

All in all we’ve had a fantastic first term with lots of fun and laughter and lots of lovely guests!!

Keep watching for your next up date from the big Bretta house!!
